Adding a patient to a waiting list
You can add a patient to a waiting list:

After you accept a new referral
For example, you can add a patient to a waiting list for an appointment.

When you cancel an appointment

When you record the administrative outcome of an appointment or another activity
For example, during an appointment, a clinician takes a sample of the patient's blood. You can add the patient to a waiting list while you wait for the results of diagnostic tests on their blood.

When you cancel a procedure
You can manually add a patient to any waiting list, except waiting lists for procedures. You can do this at any point during a patient's episode of care.
Adding a patient to a waiting list on a mobile
You can't do this on a mobile.
Adding a patient to a waiting list on a desktop

Open the patient's record.

From Outpatients > Patient Detail, search for the patient.

From Inpatients > Patient Detail, search for the patient.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > WL, select +.

Select Add to Waiting List.
-
Select a referral.
-
Select the date you added the patient to the waiting list.

Select the waiting list you are adding the patient to.

Depending on the waiting list, you might have additional fields to complete.
If the patient is waiting for:

The results of a diagnostic test
-
Select a reason for putting the patient on this waiting list.

Select the diagnostic test.

An appointment
-
Select a reason for putting the patient on this waiting list.

Select a clinic for the patient's appointment.
-
Select the type of appointment that patient needs.
For example, initial consultation or follow-up consultation.

Select how the appointment needs to be delivered.
For example, face-to-face or telephone.

Enter the earliest time the patient needs an appointment.
For example, if they need an appointment in 1 month, enter 1 month.

Enter any notes.

Select Add.

You must list a procedure before you can add a patient to waiting list for that procedure.

To add a patient to a waiting list:

Open the patient's record.

From Inpatients, select Patient List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Outpatients, select Clinic List > double-click on a patient's name > Patient Detail.

From Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > Procedures > Scheduled and Waiting List Procedures, find a procedure with the status 'Procedure listed, add to waiting list'.

Select the procedure.

Select Add to Waiting List.

Select the date you added the procedure to a waiting list.

Select a waiting list.
This list only shows waiting lists of the type 'Inpatient Procedure'.

From Method of Admission, select an option.
For example, 'Elective Admission: Planned'.

From Intended Management, select a plan for the patient's procedure.
For example, the patient staying in the hospital overnight.

Select the earliest date for the procedure that is clinically appropriate.

Select the latest date for the procedure that is clinically appropriate.

Enter the length of the patient's stay.

From Available at Short Notice, select an option.

Enter any notes.

Select Add.

Select a correspondence option to change who the letters are sent to.
To not send the letters, select None.
The options you see depend on your organisation.

Select Click to preview letters.
The letters appear in your organisation's PDF viewer.
A list of letters appears on the right. This shows the recipient of each letter and how the letter is delivered. For example, 'GP - MESH' or 'Patient - Manual print'.

Select Send.
The procedure is added to the waiting list. You can view the waiting list entry from Patient Detail > Patient admin > Show pathways > WL > Active Waiting List Entries.
